So that last post I wrote about a week and half ago and was just barely able to post it. So I'll update even further, ya dig?
Living in China has seriously been so wonderful. I love the people here. They are seriously so nice. And we are like celebrities. I guess they aren't really used to seeing a group of white girls walking around so we've had multiple pictures taken and even someone film us once. (we could take that to court in the states) haha. But really it's been so nice.
Things have been pretty slow. We haven't gone and done crazy stuff yet because we're all still getting settled in which I'm fine with. But, I do have to gloat. Let me tell you about a little night out we had for
TEACHERS DAY
The governor took us to dinner, it was...intense. I met numerous ambassadors and the Chinese sure know how to party. We stood up to toast at least twenty times throughout the night. We had questioned looks when we denied the offer of shots or red wine but they still continued to party. (It was more fun sober, anyway:)) But that night I said to myself, "Melissa. Be adventurous. Live your life. When will you even come back to China?" So, I took my own advice. And throughout the night, I ate: Dove, Eel, Duck soup, Mysterious sea sponge contraption, Shrimp (generally I hate sea food) and ANYTHING else thrown my way else it was red meat. (yes, I still don't eat red meat) Other than that night I've survived on rice and vegetables.
Except one of my weaknesses. Raise your hand if you love Cup-of-noodles!
Well, in China, they have what I like to call Cup-of-noodles on CRACK
Take your typical cup-of-noodles and times that by 100 and add triple the flavor. They are so good. My weakness. But, I've decided to take a break. I'm on a fruit binge. I bought grapes, bananas, mangos, dragon fruit (mmm), etc. at the market yesterday so HELLO HEALTHY LIVING.
Anyway, It's Sunday here. And I'm pretty bored. Listening to Ingrid Michaelson and contemplating taking a shower. (who needs hygiene these days, anyway?)
Two weeks I head to Yangshou to hike to the Mud Caves. And first week of October I will stand on, witness, and kiss
THE GREAT WALL
I just love the thought of crossing that off my Bucket List.
Anyway, keep the emails coming.
I'll try to post pictures soon.
Love you all.
