I'm here everyone!
I made it.
Let me do a quick rundown.
My flight to vegas was canceled so I sat at SLC airport for about seven hours. How anticlimactic right? But, karma hit me up and my bad luck with the canceled flight turned into good luck with a first class ticket to LA:).
In LA I got on a flight to South Korea. LONGEST FLIGH OF MY LIFE. But luckily I slept most of the way. From South Korea I flew to Hong Kong.
OH HONG KONG.
It was glorious. Dirty. But glorious. The first day I got there I took a glass-bottom tram up to the worlds largest BUDDHA. It was magnificent. After we did some shopping and the next day we went on a tour. The tour hit up Victoria's Peak (which is sort of Hong Kongs 90210), Aberdeen Fishing Village where I took a boat ride around the harbor, and Stanley Market which was glorious. BUT, Lady Street which was just down the street from our hotel had THE BEST SHOPPING.
Moving on:
I left HK on a ferry to reach my city Zhongshan (pronounces Jong-SHAWN)
ya dig? I've been here since. It's been great. My city is pretty dirty. But it's still China. We have a native coordinator names Alice and she's so adorable! She took us out into the city and showed us where the market is and where to buy everything. It was glorious. Oh and can I mention how much I LOVE the currency exchange rate? I've probably spent a total of 70-80 bucks on so much.
And now to talk about teaching. It's safe to say I STILL want Asian children. These kids are so freaking CUTE. How it works is we have six girls teaching and the kids rotate through every class. So the group of kids I start and end with is my "homeroom" and let's be blunt here. I LOVE MY HOMEROOM. The kids are older so they've been through the class before and know some English and they love me. The girls names are Amy, Mary, Kerry, Lucy, Carol and Dennis. And the boys are David and Chase. SO CUTE. I'll have pictures soon hopefully.
Anyway. That's my life so far. I'll update when I can! I miss you all SO MUCH. I've been able to call a few of you and It's seriously made my day to hear you guys pick up the phone! Keep answering and keep the emails coming! They are seriously keeping me alive out here!
Pictures soon HOPEFULLY!
Love you all. Be safe.
