Tuesday

Brace yourselves.

So I realized my last couple posts were pretty bland. Lame. Uninformative. Bleak.
So, here I am. Ready to give some DEETS (details).
Please, contain your excitement and keep legs and arms inside the blog at all time.

I’m going to skip around a bit. But I’ll start with teaching. These kids are seriously the cutest kids I have ever seen. Does anyone wonder at all why I want Asian children? My homeroom is a group of sassy little punks but they sure know how to speak. Every time I pull out my water bottle to take a drink they all say, “Teacher is drinking water!” My homeroom loves me and really listens to what I say and what I tell them to do. I’ve been told multiple times that my group is one of the best but...is that a surprise to any of you?;) haha. I do a little handshake with them and only them and they just love it. Oh, and the blessed William. William is sort of the teachers favorite. He isn’t in my homeroom but man is he a winner. He has this smile that is basically impossible to say no to.

Now let me tell you about the culture. I absolutely love it here. The people are so nice and they just love us. We have a sort of celebrity status here. There have been many instances that I’ve turned around to find someone trying to take a picture of us without being seen. It’s a riot. China is also very pretty. But the city is dirty. .It’s sad that they don’t keep things clean the way we do. It makes me feel bad. But I know for a fact the countryside will be much prettier and I can’t wait! Anyway, in the center of my city is a place called Lily Pond Park. In case you couldn’t guess, it’s a park...with lily ponds. It’s really pretty and very different from what I’m used to. And every night...they have dancing! On one side they have line dancing, and on the other side they have ballroom-style, meaning- Latin, Waltz, Two-Step and everything in-between! I went for the first time last night and it was a blast. I can’t wait to keep going and eventually meet the Asian man who will sweep me off my feet:). (literally?)

In case some of you don’t know, I love...love...love Asian men. And that didn’t stop when I came here. I don’t know what it is but I am just...so...darn...attracted to them. And not the old men with the long beards and missing teeth. No, no no. I’m talking about the young guys, with big hair and perfect jaw lines. Who dress better than any of you and have the most perfect skin. Ah. Bliss. I’ve found a couple of the perfect men at a hair salon by the market in Zhongshan. We go about once a week to get “Wishy-Washies” which are hour long hair washes/ head massages. It’s wonderful. And after they take you out to the salon and do your hair for you. Every hairstylist is a male here and they are the definition of beauty. I am in love.

Moving on, remember how I won “Worst Road Rage” In the Lone Peak High School 2010 yearbook? Yeah, I’d do great here:). They don’t have traffic laws! And as a pedestrian, you’re taught to have “no fear”. You just find an empty spot, walk into the road, and wait for the other side to clear out. The cars will go around you. And surprisingly, I trust them. A lot of the other girls in my group freak out and don’t think the driver will stop or go around them. I just think, well, these people have been driving like this the entirety of their lives, and have lived here much longer than we have so, why not trust ‘em, right?

Anyway, We have a native coordinator here named Alice. She’s so cute and she loves to hang out with us. She helps us translate and laughs at us when we ask her to tell us what a package says or what someone just said to us. But she loves it! She teaches us Chinese twice a week. So far, I’ve learned to say, “buy”, “too expensive”, “bag”, “father loves mother”, “Big brother”, “little sister”, I can count from 1-100, and most importantly...she taught me how to say, "KISS ME”. So say hello to a little idea I call, “kissing a random Asian on The Great Wall” (hello). And I laugh at those of you who think I’m kidding.

Anyway. Blogger won’t let me upload pictures and It’s pretty lame. But keep checking emails and keep writing back.

I miss and love you ALL
Eh, maybe not all of you.
